Highland Park, Illinois, Mayor Nancy Rotering said while she did not know where the weapon used in the Monday shooting in her city came from, she told NBC, “I do know that it was legally obtained.” Rotering knew the shooter, Robert E. Crimo III, as a child, and she did not believe he was among the city’s previous suspects.
Brian is well-known for being a boy who used to be Cub Scout leader, as well as the mayor of Highland Park. Six people died as the result of the beginning of an action in the city, and four others were hurt. The suspect was arrested on Monday.
The mayor said that several Crimo’s internet postings had reflected a map and a desire to gain the upper hand for a long time in the future. And it was one of those things where you take a step back and you say, “What happened? How did somebody become this angry, this hateful?” And take it out on innocent people who literally were just having a family day out. Rotering added.
The focus was on the fact that the weapons we currently have on our roadways are a weapon of mass destruction. Anyone can lawfully obtain them, and they are responsible for the casualty count during a single shooting.
