I believe that I’m craving orderliness as a result of some issues in the outside world. My attempt at sorting through the storm is to take out a movie, TV show, podcast, or book nightly to give me just another source of order in the universe.
‘Persuasion’
Full transparency: I have never been a huge fan of Jane Austen, but I’m giving Regency romance another try thanks to the new adaptation “Persuasion,” starring Dakota Johnson. You may remember her from “Fifty Shades of Grey” (which also costars Henry Golding). The film starts streaming Friday on Netflix.
‘Forever Summer: Hamptons’
A new reality series, “Forever Summer: Hamptons,” is set in the tony Hamptons community in New York’s Long Island. The show follows a group of college students who work at a restaurant during the day and party the summer nights away. The series starts streaming Friday on Amazon Prime.
‘Girl in the Picture’
The documentary, “Girl in the Picture,” tells the story of a young woman named Tonya Hughes who was killed by a hit-and-run driver in Oklahoma City in 1990. But who was she, really? And did she know her killer? Netflix definitely continues its reputation for disturbing yet absorbing true crime projects with this investigation, which is streaming now.
